First Call is The University of Pennsylvania's undergraduate magazine, a weekly publication that provides a forum for the expression of
ideas and opinions. To this end, we, the editors of First Call, are committed to a strict policy of
not censoring opinions. Articles are provided by regular columnists and submissions from the university
community. They are chosen for publication based on the quality of writing and, in the case of commentaries,
the quality of argumentation. Outside of the weekly editorial and other editorial content, no article
represents the opinion of First Call, its editorial board, or individual members of First Call other than
that of the author. No content in First Call unless otherwise stated represents the official position of
the administration, faculty or student body at large of the University of Pennsylvania.
To our readers:
First Call is Penn's only weekly undergraduate magazine, and as such, should be held to the standards of
the school we proudly serve. We promise you provoking commentary on the university community as well as on
our society as a whole, creative fiction and poetry, reviews and critiques, as well as art. We pledge to provide aggressive, but always fair and honest, investigative reporting
and interviews. We are committed to providing top-notch writing that will sometimes anger, sometimes inspire,
but always challenge our community to think about its ambitions, its beliefs, and its ethical and professional
standards. We offer you our personal pledge to maintain a standard of excellence for every article, every issue.
We hope you enjoy First Call, and thank you for your readership.
